Introduction
Awards for Training and Higher Education (ATHE) provides centers with qualifications in business and management, accounting, computing, law, health and social care. ATHE qualifications are approved as progression pathways to Bachelor’s degrees and Master’s top up degrees by a number of UK and international Universities, providing significant tertiary education opportunities for learners globally.

Overview
The ATHE Level 3 Diploma in Law is a 60-credit Ofqual regulated qualification and is the equivalent level to an A Level or Access to HE qualification. It has been designed for learners who wish to progress to a law degree but may not have the traditional entry qualifications usually required. The qualification provides learners with an introduction to law and the legal system as well as key academic, research and communication skills to support learners in their development.
Typical Age
This qualification is designed for learners who are typically aged 16+ and above.
Qualifications
For learners who have recently been in education or training the entry profile is likely to include one of the following:
- 3 or more GCSEs at grades C and above or Grade 4 and above
- other related level 2 subjects
- other equivalent international qualifications
Language
For those whom English is not their first language we recommend the following standards of proficiency in English language skills or an approved equivalent for this qualification:
- IELTs 5.5
- Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) B2
- Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) 162 or above
- Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic 42-49
Qualification Structure ATHE Level 3 Diploma in Law
The ATHE Diploma in Law is (60-credit) qualification.
Rules of combination
- To complete this programme, a learner must complete all (4 mandatory units) .

| Legal Terminology and Communication
(Level 3; 15 Credit). Mandatory. |
Learners will gain knowledge and understanding of how organisations work in the legal sector and be able to develop communication skills using legal terminology. |
| Academic and Research Skills for Law. (Level 3; 15 Credit). Mandatory. | To develop academic research skills and the language skills needed to be able to formally present academic research in a legal context, both in writing and orally. |
Delivery mode
This course will be studied via blended learning, to enable you learn when and where you want. You will be able to study at home or work, it is completely up to the learners on how plan and execute their study timetable. All the learning materials can be found online. Assessment methods
This course will be graded with ‘Pass or Fail’. A range of assessment tools will be used, and this might include assessment through:
- A research activity resulting in the compilation of a report
- The compilation or evaluation of a case study
- A critical review and evaluation of a chosen company’s policies, procedures and systems
- A set project completed for an employer (also known as an ‘employer-engagement’ activity)
- The production of a portfolio of evidence relating to a particular unit
Certification and awarding body
Upon a successful completion of this Programme as stipulated by ATHE, you will be awarded the ATHE Level 3 in Law. ATHE regulates qualifications, examinations and assessments in England.
Progression and profession pathways
Upon a successful completion this course, you will gain an accredited qualification that will provide the pathway to enter the second year in several recognised Universities in the UK. You can progress to the following.
Entry to:
- Employment in a managerial level job roles and other related sectors
- ATHE Level 4 in Law
