Entry requirements
- You must be 19 years and over
- A first degree in Business Management or related subjects
- A level 6 qualification, such as ATHE Level 6 Diploma in Business and Management
- Other equivalent international qualifications
- May have relevant work experience
- Appropriate standard of English
Language proficiency

The ATHE Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management is a 120-credit qualification. Learners must complete five core units and optional modules. ATHE has developed pathways which will enable learners to specialise in an area of their choice if they prefer. These pathways are:

The aim of this unit is to develop the knowledge, understanding and skills necessary to develop an organisational strategic plan. |
Finance for Strategic Managers (Level 7, 15 Credit). Mandatory. | The learners will develop knowledge, understanding and skills that will enable them to analyse internal and publicly available financial information. This will help to inform strategic decision making. |
Research for Strategic Development. (Level 7, 15 Credit). Mandatory. | The aim of this unit is to develop the knowledge, understanding and skills required to carry out research to meet the needs of strategic business management. |
Organisational Behaviour
(Level 7, 15 Credit). Mandatory. |
The aim of this unit is to help learners develop an understanding of how organisational behaviour, structure, culture, motivation, creativity and leadership impact on an organisation’s effectiveness and efficiency. |
Personal Development for Leadership and Strategic Management.
(Level 7, 15 Credit). Mandatory. |
This unit aims to help learners develop their own personal leadership and management skills in the context of the creation and achievement of organisational vision and strategic direction. |

Quantitative Methods

This unit will enable learners to further develop understanding and skills in the application of quantitative methods appropriate to support decision-taking in organisations. |
Strategic Marketing

International Marketing

Corporate Communication Strategies

This unit will enable learners to develop knowledge and understanding of the importance of corporate communications and the link with corporate objectives. |

Assessment method
In order to successfully complete this course, a learner MUST complete all mandatory units and optional units as stipulated, to achieve (120 credits). This course will be graded as follows: Pass, Merit and Distinction.
A range of assessment tools will be used, and this might include assessment through:
- A research activity resulting in the compilation of a report
- An academic paper or article for publication
- The compilation of a case study
- A critical review and evaluation of a chosen company’s policies, procedures and systems
- A set project completed for an employer (also known as an ‘employer-engagement’ activity)
- The production of a portfolio of evidence relating to a particular unit
Certification and awarding body
Upon a successful completion of this programme as stipulated by ATHE, you will be awarded ‘ATHE Level 7 Extended Diploma in Strategic Management’. Awards for Training and Higher Education (ATHE) is a global awarding organisation, regulated by the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual). ATHE regulates qualifications, examinations and assessments in England.
Progression and profession pathways
Once you have successfully completed this course, you will gain an accredited qualification that will provide the pathway to enter an MBA top-up programme in several recognised Universities in the UK and overseas. Also, you can progress to the following.
